We are excited to announce that YSI has received a three-year Grow Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation!
The $555,000 grant will support YSI to deepen our work in Algoma and begin sparking youth-organizing Nests in new communities, including Thunder Bay!
Continuing our work of the past 2 years in Algoma, we will be refining a framework for regional youth organizing hubs in Ontario that support youth to engage in solving complex community challenges in the civic, cultural and economic spheres.
Using our youth-driven, intergenerational approach, YSI will infuse these efforts with participatory leadership practices and the development of inclusive governance structures created by Indigenous and non-Indigenous YSI members.
In YSI form, we are collaborating with a cast of fabulous organizations to make this good work happen. They include:
- 4Rs Youth Movement (National)
- Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP) (Thunder Bay)
- Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) (Provincial)
- Children’s Peace Theatre (Toronto)
- SKETCH Working Arts (Toronto)
- Thinking Rock Community Arts (Algoma)
Children’s Peace Theatre (CPT) will also be serving as YSI’s new administrative partner, as we will be joining their Organizational Platform for the duration of the project.
We thank Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) for three years of wonderful support and look forward to continuing collaborating with them.
Stay tuned for upcoming news on job opportunities and project updates.
Let the adventure begin!
Our thanks go out to the following organizations:
